In accordance with the decision of  the Bank of Latvia, starting from 1 January 2005 all of the payments within Latvia can be accepted only if the recipient’s account (it is necessary to indicate the number of the recipient’s account, because the payer may have no account at all, paying in cash) is indicated in IBAN format in the document of payment. The payment orders, that do not contain this information, are not accepted.  

IBAN (International Bank Account Number), that is a combination of 21 symbols, in Latvia has the following structure: 

LV xx PRTT 0265011155500  

LV – code of the state of Latvia  

xx – check digits, that are calculated by the Bank automatically 

PRTT – the Bank identification code (BIC)  

0265011155500 – Customer’s account, before which zero is put, in order to get 13 symbols in the totality.
